Methods for Finding Genealogy Blogs

I’m trying to remember how I find out about blogs, of any nature, to begin with.  Now I remember - through digital scrapbooking.  A lot of digital scrapbooking artists display their work on blogs and some of them even sell or give away freebie digital artwork for others to use in their scrapbook layouts.  I tried that, by the way, without much success.  I just didn’t have enough to talk about.  After a year and not much to show for it, I deleted my Typepad blog.

But I do still check in with several digital scrapbooking blogs.  Just about all the blogs I had run across at that point were of an artistic nature.  Then I started branching out a little.  Heather Ann Melzer’s blog led me to Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  Then I started clicking on commentor’s blogs and suddenly realized I had been missing out on something big here.  I wondered if there were any genealogy blogs.

Well, you can search to your heart’s content among these:

These lists are by no means all inclusive.  Some of the blog lists were compiled by the author.  Other blog lists accept requests to add a blog.  I was a little surprised that you must request Google to include a blog in the Google Blog Search.

There are literally hundreds of genealogy blogs but I think you will find the most active bloggers on Facebook.  Yes, I have been converted to a social media junkie.
